A Day Woven in My Memory

40 Comments/ 4727/ 0

This summer brought many trips and excursions and time with family and friends.  Looking back I realize I have hardly posted anything about much of them at all.  I don’t want to bombard your inboxes with blog posts so I have held back.  Today join me as I remember my trip with my pal, Sal, earlier this summer to Columbus, Ohio and for our day exploring all things Longaberger.  It was a great day spent wandering the grounds of the Longaberger Homestead and Dresden.

The same store featured a huge basket that visitors could sign.  We had a little trouble with the Sharpies that were there (I think they needed rehydrated like we did after walking around  in the heat!)  But of course we signed to commemorate our visit.P1130967

Another neat building in Dresden shows patriotism.

Off to The Homestead where we were truly basket cases.

We had the place almost totally to ourselves this day.  I guess it was not a huge tourism day at The Homestead but it made it even better for us to not have to deal with crowds. The weekend before had been The Great American Picnic on the grounds with upwards of 3000 folks attending.

Inside there was a fabulous shopping experience complete with patriotic displays of baskets to pay tribute to this great land where we live. The picture below was made up of picnic baskets!

I love this quote by Dave Longaberger:  “Your success will ultimately depend on the relationships you build with people.”

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
