December is here (a few days in already) and it is a month when folks think about finding that perfect gift for that certain someone or someones. This year Chris and I are downsizing in a lot of ways. Fewer gifts, fewer decorations (he reminded me of a REALLY active kitten and it makes sense), fewer things to stress about and more time to just enjoy the meaning of the holiday. I am excited about my “lesser” approach this year and am honestly hoping that I can carry it off. Time will tell.

The month of November went by so quickly and our Comments for a Cause recipient, Sharing House, is in full swing with providing all kinds of services for our community. The Rotary hosted an amazing Pack the Pantry event and a record amount of food and monetary donations came in which will go a long ways to feed our neighbors. Here on It’s Just Life, we are thrilled to be able to make our own donation due to comments left on the blog during the month. Thank you one and all for your continued support.

So with the new month comes a renewed focus on giving in our community and I am thrilled to highlight a local ministry in Brevard that I have not highlighted before. Cove Shelter is our local shelter that is open for our unhoused community members. It is sponsored by Cove Church and has grown in size due to the incredible need. In past years it was open during Code Purple nights when the temperatures dropped to 32 degrees or below. This year, Cove Shelter will be open every single night from November to March. What a blessing this is to our community.
Our Vision
To glorify God by proclaiming and showing love through a Christ-centered ministry that brings life transformation in a safe, accepting and caring environment.
Our Values
Cove Shelter is committed to providing quality services to our guest and to treat them with respect and dignity. The shelter bases its high standards and our daily actions on four basic principles.
1. Homeless guest centered
2. Integrity
3. Trust
4. Authentic Communication
Cove Shelter offers the following to each person who spends the night:
Each guest receives:
A hot meal
A clean, safe bed
Showers + laundry access
Clothing essentials
Because everyone deserves care, comfort, and compassion — just as Jesus calls us to give. ![]()
I think you will agree with me that this is a worthwhile cause to support. Please check out more about Cove Shelter by clicking on their social media links listed below. For each comment made on any post during the month, Chris and I will make a donation of 50 cents to help support the mission of Cove Shelter. As always, thank you for taking the time to read and comment. It means more than you will eve know.
