Comments For a Cause Goes Cyber

1 Comment/ 30/ 0

October 1st and here we are! Grateful that storms and hurricanes turned and did not come on the trajectory that they were originally on and happy to be home and starting to enjoy the shift to fall weather. But of course, it is also time for Comments for a Cause and all that that means here on It’s Just Life.

.

This past month we highlighted Oxfam and all that they do as an organization. Oxfam teams are responding in more than 75 countries to save lives and advocate for long-term solutions to inequality, poverty, and injustice. I am happy to be able to support them a little bit with with our donation of $55 as a result of Comments for a Cause. Thanks to all who have continued to read and comment here. I appreciate it.

Did you. know that it is Cybersecurity Awareness Month? October marks an important month in many ways and when I found out that this was an annual campaign every October I thought it would be a great thing to highlight for Comments for a Cause so I started looking for a non profit that might fit in with what I could support.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month is led by the U.S. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) (CISA), it educates the public about cyber threats and promotes actions to improve online safety for individuals and organizations. The month aims to raise awareness about the evolving digital landscape and emphasize that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility.

.

After checking around a bit I discovered Cyversity – a non profit whose mission is :

To achieve the consistent representation of women, underrepresented communities, and all veterans in the cybersecurity industry through programs designed to diversify, educate, and empower.

A 4 star Charity Navigator rating helped me to decide that this non profit was one worth checking out and their mission spoke to me. As I looked around on their website I discovered a few more reasons to donate to them.

  • A more diverse cybersecurity workforce leads to better problem-solving, innovation, and the ability to understand the needs of a diverse population. Donations help Cyversity break down barriers and provide equal opportunities for underrepresented individuals to succeed.
  • Cybersecurity faces a massive workforce shortage. Donating to Cyversity directly supports the development of a new generation of skilled cybersecurity professionals, helping protect individuals and organizations from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
  • Donating to Cyversity means contributing to a respected and impactful non-profit organization committed to transparency and making a real difference in the cybersecurity landscape.

So join me this month as we observe Cybersecurity Awareness Month and support Cyversity. For every comment on any post during the month we will make a 50 cent donation for our Comments for a Cause efforts. Each month it is our privilege to highlight a worthy cause and make a donation and this month I think I have found a really unique one.

Please check out more about Cyversity by going to their social media links below. As always, thank you for taking the time to read and comment.
