Comments for a Cause – Sharing is Caring

8 Comments/ 2104/ 0

December 1st and I am getting in the holiday mood, what about you? This weekend marks the kick off in our little mountain community of all things holiday and I am very excited. This year we will not be traveling for the holidays – the holidays will be coming to us so I am really thrilled that we will have a full house and will have the sounds of Christmas surrounding us.

But before we get too far into that holiday revelry, as always, it is time for the Comments for a Cause here on it’s Just Life. This past month I highlighted a cause that is near to my heart – American Brain Tumor Association. I shared last month in my post that I have a dear friend whose husband has glioblastomas (GBM). It is definitely not a fun thing to have and his treatment involves a combination of chemotherapy, radiation and infusions. We are praying that all of this has slowed the growth of the remaining tumor and that the treatment will help with his quality of life.

Thanks to all who have stopped by and left comments this month. As a result Chris and I will be making a donation of $75 to the American Brain Tumor Association in honor of our friend who is courageously fighting this awful medical condition.

I have made no secret of my love of Transylvania Christian Ministry – Sharing House over the years. It is the agency in our county that has the privilege to minister to our neighbors in tangible and helpful ways.

Our Mission

Sharing House connects with residents of Transylvania County to provide crisis assistance and programs that cultivate lasting solutions to hunger and poverty.

Our Vision

Every person in Transylvania County has enough food and resources to thrive.

I am privileged to volunteer and be a board member of this amazing organization. The staff is honestly one of the best staffs I have ever seen –treating each person they come in contact with with dignity, respect and unconditional love. There are so many stories of neighbors who have been helped with resources that honestly have changed their lives for the better. Currently the Christmas Blessings program is in full swing and that is one of my favorite things to volunteer for. Each family that receives services is able to choose $50 worth of toys per child along with selecting a book, stocking and stocking stuffers and Christmas decor for the family. It is such a wonderful thing to watch those adults carefully choose items that they know their children will love. It is indeed a Christmas Blessing.

I have designated our Comments for a Cause recipient for December to be Sharing House once again. During this time of year they are actively doing their year end appeal which raises significant funds that help support their ministries throughout the year. This year, as in previous years, our family is choosing a charitable donation instead of gifts and my charity choice is Sharing House of course.

Please join me this month and know that for every comment on any blog post, Chris and I will make a 50 cent donation to Sharing House. If anyone wants to make my Christmas brighter YOU can make your own donation by clicking here.
