Featuring Great Options on Comments for a Cause

34 Comments/ 588/ 0

I say it on the first of every month but Comments for a Cause is absolutely the best thing I could have done on It’s Just Life.  Since April 2011 I have been featuring a new “cause” on the first of the month.  For every comment made on the blog during that month, Chris and I donate 50 cents to that particular charity.  We cap the donation at $500 and have only reached that once but after doing our taxes this year it is evident that this is a wonderful way for us to give back to our community and beyond.  Thank you to all of you who stop by particularly on the first of the month to support our efforts to educate and raise a little money for some wonderful causes.

February was a short month but you guys commented up a storm and our recipient, The Bookworm Box, will be receiving $175 thanks to your comments.  The Bookworm Box is a subscription service started by author Colleen Hoover. You can read my post that shares more details by clicking here. What I love about this organization is that they give back as well.  Their organization proudly gives 100% of their  profits to various charities (many that are suggested by subscribers) and have given over a million dollars in the past 3 years.  Now “I” can’t donate a million dollars but I can happily support an organization that does, right?  So hats off to The Bookworm Box and thanks to them for sharing on their social media channels to get a few more 50 cent donations.

Friends are a great source of information and my friend Marci  has shared a great organization with me that I am happy to feature as our Comments for a Cause recipient for March 2018 – Georgia Options, Inc.

Mission

Georgia Options, Inc supports people with disabilities to live in their own homes and to have typical life experiences.

Philosophy

We embrace the philosophy of supported living and work to create individualized services for each person we support.

Pretty amazing organization, right?  Anyone who has anyone with special needs in their family knows what a challenge it can be to find a place where they can live as independently as possible while maintaining safety and security. That is precisely what Georgia Options does.  They place people in homes with services tailored to their needs.  What a gift this is to both the client and their family.

Marci has a family member who is a part of Georgia Options, Inc.  and he is featured in this video with his parents.  (Matt is Marci’s husband’s cousin’s son.)   Please consider spending a few moments watching the video to learn more.

What makes Georgia Options, Inc. unique is their ability to serve their clients  in their own homes. They are helped with all the basics:   where they want to live, with whom they want to live, and how they want to live. Each person is provided support at varying degrees depending upon their need.  The staff offers one on one support to the person in all areas of life which allows that person to live his/ her best life possible.   I can tell you that as a family member with someone who has some special needs this would have been a wonderful option if it had been available to us.

Thanks to Georgia Options, Inc. for their dedication and mission to keep people in their own homes, pursuing their dreams and interacting within their community.  What a gift.

Please join me this month, come back frequently and comment, to support this fabulous organization.  Each comment on any blog post from any month or year will mean a 50 cent donation.

Do you have any organizations that you would like to see featured for a future Comments for a Cause?  Let me know in the comments section as well and it can go on my every growing list.  Thank  you to each of you that faithfully comment.  It means a lot not only to me but to our Comments for a Cause recipients.
