Fun Things I’ve Been Reading

28 Comments/ 431/ 0

The internet is such a great source of reading material. I absolutely love finding articles that are interesting and I thought today would be a good day to share just a few of the fun things that I have found to share with my readers. Get a cup of coffee or tea, grab a chair and sit back and surf around with me for a bit today.

First up –how about a tiny restaurant for bees? Sweden is trying to promote the health of our ever dwindling bee population with a cute McDonald’s themed bee hive. McDonald’s Opens Tiny Restaurant for Bees.

Micah and Wendy are going on a trip and they are going to climb Mount Pico so I have been looking at all of the beautiful pictures and information about what they will be doing. Check out this account of a hiker’s journey and see some pretty amazing pictures. Climbing Mount Pico: All You Need to Know for an Epic Hike Update: They did it! Micah said it was challenging but worthwhile.

One of the perks of being a blogger and influencer is that sometimes I get great things. One of those things I often share with readers are the great books I get to read before they come out to the general public. I am thrilled to have been able to get an advance copy of my favorite Southern author Sean Dietrich’s novel Stars of Alabama through NetGalley. Whoop whoop! Not that definitely deserves exclamation marks, Audrey. So I am reading it and loving it, of course. I will share my review later but suffice it to say he is still my favorite Southern author. And just look at this cover –so beautiful. You can pre-order a copy here. (Sooooo—– I finished it so you can read my review by clicking here.)

Every once in awhile I find a really great group online that shares my passions. I found RAC (Reader / Author Connection Magazine and have loved being able to read the works of others. The latest magazine features some great short stories and an author interview. They are also featuring blogs and I was honored to be the first blog that they featured in their current online magazine. This issue is being offered free this month so feel free to click on this link and read some great writing.

Another great article I have revisited in my “saved” file is one about a church in downtown Asheville – Haywood Street Congregation. Formerly known as Haywood Street United Methodist this church is making a difference in the lives of many. A big difference. I have quite a few friends from my former work church that continue to got to Asheville to be a part of the ministry of this church. While I have not visited it is definitely on my list of places to visit. You can read about their unconventional ministry by clicking here.

If you have followed me on social media you know of my undying love of all things goats, llamas and alpacas. Well check out what they do to goats who use their horns instead of their words. Or something like that. Click here to see some adorable pictures.

Have you been reading anything interesting? Anything worth sharing? Let me know in the comment section and remember that each comment on the blog this month means a 50 cent donation to our Comments for a Cause recipient – The Wounded Warrior Project.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
