How I Am Spending My Time

12 Comments/ 190/ 0

It has been a glorious week. Honestly, it has! The reason why? Because I have not been over scheduled and have had a lot of time to just be home and do what I want to do. The AAUW Book Sale is coming up next week and I will be busier than a one armed paperhanger. So this week I am enjoying just not being busy and it has been fabulous.

The week started out with the first service of the year at Faith Memorial Chapel and that is my favorite place to worship. I wrote about it a couple years ago here. There is just something about worshipping in an outdoor place that brings me closer to God. I love it.

It’s been raining a lot so I spent a lot of time indoors reading and making cards and watching tv. There is always housework and yard work to do but I managed to make plenty of time for other stuff.

A television show I watched that I thoroughly enjoyed was Pernille on Netflix. It is a Norwegian drama — I watched a dubbed version and I loved it even if the lips didn’t always match the words. It is emotional and real and complicated at times but an engaging show. I highly recommend it.

What am I reading? I am trying to make a dent in my TBR pile. I just finished My Friends by Fredrik Bachman. I was a huge fan of A Man Called Ove and read several other books by this author that did not draw me in quite like that one did . I saw he had a new one so I gave it another try and I must say it drew me in just like A Man Called Ove did. Rich characters, compelling story line and a lot of emotion made this one of my favorite books so far this year. The writing is beautifully done with so many phrases and passages that I need to go back, reread and take notes on some of those lovely phrases. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a good book to read.

I am currently reading Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall and am loving it so far. Too early to share a review but it has received great reviews from others so I am thinking it is going to be another one that I love.

Other things this week –shopping the AOS aisle at Aldi where I found a couple perfect things to have for Fama and PopPops Camp coming up in under a month. I also got our t-shirts ordered!

I spent time filling in our calendar for the summer and realizedhow busy we are going to be, watched Chris work on replacing a good portion of our deck and sat on our front porch enjoying looking at all of my flowers and plants growing by leaps and bounds. I am so happy to be able to enjoy some down time before the busyness starts up again.

So what about you? What have you been up to this week?

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
