Powering Up with Comments for a Cause

20 Comments/ 1156/ 0

Hello one and all! February has arrived and here on It’s Just Life that means there is excitement in the air. It has been a pretty wonderful month for comments here and my faithful readers (and some new ones) have commented and filled my inbox with happiness. Thank you to each and every one.

This past month it was all about cats. While not everyone is a cat lover I think almost everyone can agree that all animals deserve a wonderful life and our charity for the past month helps to make that happen time and time again. Mountain Laurel Animal Rescue is one of our local rescues and they specifically work to trap, neuter and release cats that otherwise would keep multiplying in numbers. There are a lot of feral colonies that pop up and without this service these colonies grow and grow until they become a problem. Then cats get a bad name and we can’t have that, can we?

Jennifer at MLAR has a proven track record, the support of a lot of dedicated and ethical people, and a heart of gold. I am thrilled to announce that Chris and I will be making a donation of $143 to MLAR as a result of your comments on the blog this month.

Transylvania Christian Ministry and Sharing House have been previous Comments for a Cause recipients for a good reason. This is THE organization in our area that really makes a difference in the lives of those who need a little extra help. I am thrilled to highlight them again for the month of February with a little twist.

This time our donation will go directly to their Power Up fund which helps folks with power bills. This past month has been unusually cold (come one warmer weather) in our area and heating bills will be sky high for many who just can not afford another high bill to pay. Thanks to the Power Up program these neighbors will have some help with some of those bills.

While the fundraising effort has changed a bit in how it looks and has moved from personal in home dinners to a larger drive thru event, the efforts that our community have put forth to help with this fund have been phenomenal. I decided that if my readers would continue to comment this month we could make another small donation to help with the efforts as well.

So if you are new here this is how it works. For every comment made on ANY post during the month (not just this one) Chris and I will pledge to donate 50 cents to the Power Up Fund. Easy as that. Don’t forget to check out the links for Transylvania Christian Ministry below and see all that they do. Thanks, as always, for supporting It’s Just Life and our various charities.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
