Straight from the Gram

Some of you may have Instagram accounts and I must admit that I get pulled into all of the Instagram silliness on occasion. It is a nice diversion and when Chris hears me laughing from the next room he naturally assumes I am looking at instagram videos. He is usually correct.

There are a plethora of accounts to follow but if you are on already on the social media platform – please follow me here and Maksim, of course, has his own page here.

A lot of what I follow are cat related folks but honestly there are a million places to find great videos. Videos that make you laugh, make you think “hmmm” and even spiritual and religious posts that can really lift a spirit .

One of the funniest accounts I have begun following recently is Derrick Downey, Jr. who has a pet squirrel Maxine. His Instagram posts are hysterical as he has Maxine talking into a microphone and introduces other squirrels who live in the area . His cast of characters includes Hoodrat Raymond and Tore Up Terry. He has written a book Hand and Paw about Maxine and his videos on TikTok and Instagram are just hysterical.

Another great and entertaining guy I follow is Dr. Matt McGlasson, DVM. He also has a book “How to Rate a Cat: Rate Any Feline Friend from Their Boopable Noses to Their Sweet Toe Beans” available on his website here and in other places. He has several special needs animals that he features on his videos and is so convincingly serious at times. My favorites are the ones featuring Nuggie who seems to have some sort of drinking problem judging from her stash of Jim Bean in her tiny purse.

Recently I discovered Crazy Auntie Ann who lip syncs to songs with her husband using brooms and whisks and often sings in cars as her husband drives and chimes in while he shifts. I don’t know why but it makes me laugh hysterically at times.

So, what do you think? Should Chris and I branch out and start a TikTok or Instagram channel to share our vast abilities with the world? Maybe not but in the meantime, tell me what you have gotten hooked on on either TikTok or Instagram and give me some more things to waste my time on. Leave me a comment and remember that each comment means a small donation to our Comments for a Cause — Connestee Falls Fire and Rescue.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
