I am a subscription box addict and I might need a 12 Step Program pretty soon judging from the loads that our mail carrier has been delivering to me lately. However – this latest one is AMAZING. And yes, capital letters are required for this because it is such a great program.
First of all I have to give credit to one of my newly found blogger friends Julie who blogs at Word Storm Casserole . I met Julie at BAMC16 earlier this year in Las Vegas. She was one of my clown car buddies (yes–there is a story there) and introduced me to a great Facebook group where members share their subscription box finds. There are so many I had never even heard of and it is fun to see them all revealed. She told me about one that is really hard to get a subscription to because it is so popular and since it was book related I was intrigued. The Bookworm Box is a subscription box that is one for any book lover.
The monthly cost is $39.99 which might seem a bit high for some budgets but when I got all the facts I realized that I really wanted to be a part of this group of elite subscribers. The monthly cost gives the subscriber 2 autographed books along with an item exclusively from The Bookworm Box as well as other book related swag.
The great news is that they were giving away 25 free April boxes to bloggers and I lucked out, thanks to Julie’s alert, and was selected to receive one. When I saw the lavender box waiting for me when I returned from Alabama last week I was beyond thrilled and ripped into it to see what it contained.
I loved seeing the two signed books that were included and am anxious to read Honesty by Seth King and Midnight Lily by Mia Sheridan as neither of them are ones I have read before. There is just something about having books signed by the authors. I have a whole shelf devoted to signed books and it is exploding so I am going to need to expand it to another shelf soon. Other fun items included in the box were a cell phone charger for the car, a Bookworm Box pen and sticker and several other bookmarks from other authors.
The thing that I love the most about The Bookworm Box is that they give back. Just like my Comments for a Cause program The Bookworm Box has a deeper purpose–to give back to others. As posted on their website:
HELPING PEOPLE DISCOVER GREAT BOOKS & GIVING BACK
IS WHAT WE DO BEST.
The Bookworm Box was built on the foundation of spreading the good, so 100% of the profit after overhead costs will be donated to different charities each month.
So now you understand why I love this service so much, right? It is a group that has captured my heart with both their mission and their products. Authors can donate books to be included in boxes and it allows their books to be circulated to people that may not have had the chance to connect with them before. It is a great marketing tool and one that I am going to suggest to all of my author friends.
I am hoping to be able to get a subscription one day when an opening comes up and I am able to jump in on time. Quantities are limited due to the number of books they have which is understandable but I hope that if I keep sharing this with authors who will donate books more boxes will be available. I was thrilled and grateful to receive a free box this month from The Bookworm Box folks and am singing their praises everywhere I go.
The charities selected to support in April were varied and ranged from No Place For Hate, Margie Long Scholarship Fund, The Family Service Bureau of Newark, Jackie Boyd Soul Brothers Foundation, Buddy Bench, The Turban Project for Cancer Patients, Tulsa Youth Rowing Association, The Auto-Inflammatory Alliance, The Gina McReynolds Foundation and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. Another great thing is that readers can suggest charities to be the recipients as well so there are a lot of great charities that I am going to explore as a result of their giving and see which ones might be a good fit for Comments for a Cause here on It’s Just Life.
Don’t wait to check out this great subscription box service. It may be a wait to get a box but it will be worth it. My trigger finger is ready for the next opening. I hope to beat you to it.
Thanks again to the lovely folks at The Bookworm Box for the gift box this month.
