1/3rd of a 3 Way

10 Comments/ 758/ 0

Did that title get you? Good! That was my plan. This is a G rated blog so don’t worry – you can keep reading.

One of the lamps at the beach condo we rented was one of those 3 way lamps that allows you to have three different levels of brightness. As you know from my post on Monday, I read a lot on this trip. That is the perfect vacation to me – a reading vacation. It makes me happy to escape between the pages of a book. But I digress.

This lamp was located by the couch and I had snuggled up there under my beach afghan my niece had crocheted for me. I turned on the light to discover that there was a dim one way bulb in it so the light was just not bright enough for my aged eyes to read. I was bummed and had to find another spot to read.

But I thought -this would make a good blog post. You know that is what I think quite often, right? How often do I fall victim to using 1/3rd of my potential? How often do I put forth 1/3rd of the effort that I should put forth? How often do I just not shine as brightly as I should ?

Sometimes I get tired. Don’t we all? This pandemic has worn us down. Somehow Chris and I are still “Noviders”, even after exposures to the virus. I guess those vaccines and masks have worked well for us as well as being cautious about where we go. But I get it – we are all tired and the reaction to that is sometimes just doing enough to get by.

As I look around my house and see the dust piles and cat floof I realize that my efforts in that category have definitely been 1/3rd or less. My windows are filthy and I keep saying “I should clean them” but yet….here I sit.

So here’s the question. How do I get fully motivated to use my full 3 clicks of the lamp? How do I get myself in the mode to live up to my full potential? Do I just need to set goals? Do I need to force myself? Is it just part of being that dreaded middle age where I don’t have as much energy? I don’t know.

Tell me, do you think you use your full three clicks or are you on one or two? I would love to hear your thoughts so leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for Operation KeepSafe.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
