A Trip to Rock City Garden

5 Comments/ 724/ 1

On our anniversary trip we did ALL the touristy stuff and it was great. The trip to Tennessee centered around seeing Ruby Falls and Rock City. Our trip to Rock City to see the gardens was inspired by seeing all of those signs along highways over the years. Between the Ruby Falls signs and the See Rock City signs we figured we needed to check this off the bucket list.

.

The day we went to Rock City we tried to arrive early and before it got too crowded. The park did get pretty crowded but with the size of the place it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Admission if purchased online is $5 off a ticket and is the best way to go as you are buying a ticket for a timed admission. Tickets were $29 each so it isn’t an inexpensive place to visit but it is an “attraction” so I guess we expect to spend a bit for things like this.

.

Red doors are predominant throughout the park as well as other types of art that visitors can enjoy. Rock City Gardens first opened to the public in 1932 when the owners, Garnet and Frieda Carter, decided to share their magnificent backyard with others. The geological and botanical wonders and fabulous views along with the creative and passion for nature of the owners allowed them to create a magical place for others to enjoy.

.

Paths are well marked and access to areas is fairly easy but there is walking and skinny passages that may be difficult for some visitors to navigate.

It really is an interesting place and we enjoyed walking through the different areas and seeing different rock formations . I am always amazed at how beautiful our world is. Such diversity and the talent of the owners to transform this place into something so special boggles my mind.

Artwork is everywhere throughout the park and this eagle was maybe my favorite.

.

Just look at these views.

I will share a few more pictures later on in the week but for now just know that Rock City Gardens is a pretty cool place to visit. If you want to find out more about it just click here to go to their website which is full of information and pictures.
