A Whole New Experience

18 Comments/ 783/ 0

Here I am coming to you again with another exciting chapter of Life in my House. Where I reveal all of the things that I am discovering and lessons that can be learned. You might remember my 1/3rd of a 3 Way post from last week. Well, today, dear readers, read on for another scintillating chapter in my life story.

This time it involves a shower head.

I told you — exciting.

The shower head in our shower was disgustingly clogged. I had tried to clean it out numerous times but I think it was just one of those things that as the house ages (not unlike me) some things just don’t work as well as they used to and need replaced. Chris finally got fed up with the inadequate stream of water coming out of the head and ordered and installed a new shower head.

What a difference! Now not only can we enjoy a full spray without restriction, we can also choose the type of spray to experience. The old shower head had a couple of options but honestly – they were very disappointing. Now we have six glorious settings that actually work.

So of course it made me think –blog post! Because that is how my brain thinks. Not just about a silly little shower head that was easily replaced but about how life gets clogged up with “stuff”. But only if we allow it to become that way.

I have allowed that to happen so often in my life. I am getting better at it but still need to clean the gunk out of my life that doesn’t belong or is no longer useful. Sometimes that is a difficult task but I have found that if I allow relationships or activities that are no longer productive or helpful in my life it drains me and not in a good way. So in the past year I have intentionally tried to eliminate some of those things from my life in an effort to be more productive and to have more joy.

It works. It absolutely works. I surround myself with people that fill me up instead of drain me. I choose to do things that are worthwhile and helpful rather than just doing things that others expect me to do. It has changed my entire outlook on things.

Of course I still have busy times and times when I totally miss the mark like when I realized today that I have book club tomorrow instead of next week and haven’t even started the book because I thought I had another week … but it is all good and I adjust and realize that the world will definitely not come to an end because I did not make it to book club this month. At least I hope not. If you are reading this it didn’t.

So what have you done to get the gunk out of your life? Other than install a new shower head? I would love to hear all about it and remember to leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause – Native American Heritage Association.
