Alaskan Sized Tapas

1 Comment/ 14/ 0

Give me a good tapas restaurant and I am one happy camper. Chris and I found the perfect tapas restaurant in Homer, Alaska at the Homer Seaplane Base. Our Bed and Breakfast hosts gave us some recommendations and Water Rudders was the one that caught our eye for our first meal in Homer. We were not disappointed.

Tapas, or small plates, are a great way to taste several menu items without being tied to just one entree. They are shareable and these offered at Water Rudders were very generously sized. They were all served in adorable little cast iron skillets and our outdoor seating was a lovely place to watch the seaplanes come and go.

The menu is small but mighty and each dish we tried was perfect. The hot items were piping hot, the cold items chilled and lovely and the presentation was perfect.

.

We sampled almost everything on the menu– it was all fabulous. I wish I had some of this focaccia bread right now as I am typing this.

.

.

I am always a huge fan of caprese salads in any shape or form and this one was plentiful and delightful.

.

.

Two more great dishes – Elk Albondigas (meatballs) and Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp) filled us up.

.

.

.

I am not a huge dessert person (except for pie) and definitely not a cheesecake lover but even I had to have a couple bites of this light and delicious mini cheesecake. Yum.

If you ever venture to Homer, Alaska this is a must stop for a nibble and a drink. Lovely venue with gracious host who made sure we had everything we needed and more. Are you hungry now?
