Atlanta High

16 Comments/ 563/ 0

My BFF Ann and I spent a few days in Atlanta and one of the things we ticked off our to do list was to visit the High Museum of Art on Peachtree St NE. The great thing about museums is that they open the world up to your eyes. Through different exhibits and art I was able to enjoy several hours of creative and inspiring exhibits. From American art to Folk Art to Classic to African exhibits, this museum has something for everyone. This week will be highlights from some of those things that we were lucky enough to view.

First up – a display devoted to one of my favorites Frank Lloyd Wright. I always loved seeing his work during my childhood as my parents appreciated his designs. When we lived in Mason City, Iowa the last standing Frank Lloyd Wright Hotel was renovated and that along with a great collection of prairie school architecture homes designed by his students helped to cement my continued love of seeing his handiwork.

Another area featured some American art and I knew immediately that the following was a Georgia O’Keefe. I realized that I have not shared our visit to MOMA in NYC and the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit there so some day soon I will share that here.

.

Other art that caught my eye varied in design and style.

This statue was incredible. The “veil” was part of the design but certainly looked like it was a real piece of fabric draped over the face.

Other art featured intricate designs. This one included recycled materials.

A closer look.

I am always drawn to unique things and the following definitely fall into that category.

.

Come back tomorrow to see some teapots that I found in the museum. Of course I found teapots.

Have a great Monday and let me know if you have ever visited the High Museum. Don’t forget to Comment for a Cause for More Than Words.

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
