Comments for A Cause Takes on a Musical Note

29 Comments/ 5010/ 1

Comments for a Cause reveal day on the first of each month always makes me sing and today I am thrilled because the causes just keep getting better and better.  It amazes me how each month I am able to unearth the perfect cause to highlight and bring awareness to my readers of a charity or organization that may have been unknown. This month is no exception.shriners hospital

But first I have to highlight Shriners Hospitals for Children which was our June Comments for a Cause recipient.  I love all that this organization does for children and even had one reader comment how this organization helped a loved one.  Those testimonials are what make me smile, how about you?  This organization not only helps children heal it also is at the forefront of research and doing techniques and treatments that become the standard for many other hospitals all over the world. They specialize in several areas including burn care, orthopedics, cleft lip and palate and spinal cord injuries.

I am happy to announce that Chris and I will be making a donation of $143 to Shriners Hospitals for Children thanks to your comments during June.  I am happy to be able to do this and make a small donation that will make a difference.

Music is such a huge part of my life.  I have always been surrounded by music from my very early years until the present.  My parents loved music and loved a variety so I was exposed to it early on in my life.  I found a love of singing and even played percussion for a brief time in junior high until choral music won my heart.  I can not imagine a world without music.

Fast forward to present day and Chris and I find ourselves living in a magical place that supports music more than any other place we have lived.  We have attended our very first concert at the Brevard Music Center and I decided that it would be the perfect recipient for the July Comments for a Cause.

80th

This is the 80th year that the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute and Festival has been in existence and to say that it is a pretty big deal may be the largest understatement of the decade

1 Spectacular Anniversary Celebration
Symphony. Opera. Pops. Jazz. Chamber. Bluegrass. | June-August 2016

400 students come to the institute every year. Their ages range from 14 years to 29 years.  They live and breathe music and work with a faculty of over 80 instructors.  They are exceptional and after their Brevard Music Center Summer Institute and Festival experience they are extraordinary.  Keith Lockhart,  Music Director of the Boston Pops and BBC Orchestra in London, is the critically acclaimed conductor and after hearing the symphony play with Amy Grant on Saturday night I was amazed beyond words.  I can not imagine how these students must feel with all of the talent that surrounds them in this beautiful setting.BMC

By donating to the Brevard Music Center  we will be encouraging young musicians and supporting their efforts.  Chris and I believe in the arts and this month we encourage you to take some time to leave some comments on It’s Just Life in an effort to raise some support for what we have decided is one of the very best things about living where we live.  For each comment made on the blog during July we will donate 50 cents.

The massive program book is the "Bible" for the BMC summer schedule.

Please watch the short video which will give you a glimpse into what this is all about. A side note is that this video is from last season and some of the upgrades have been made including the new acoustical setting for the stage area which are phenomenal. I think you will understand why we are so excited about making this our Comments for a Cause.

Happy early Fourth of July!  I am taking a few days off to be with the family and grand kitty and grandpuppy– see you back here on Tuesday for Teapot Tuesday.

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
