Comments for a Cause – May 2026

Leave a Comment/ 12/ 0

May has come and here we are – already a few days into the month. It is always an exciting time here at It’s Just Life around the first of the month because we share Comments for a Cause. Comments for a Cause began way back in 2011 and each month I highlight a charity or non profit and give. my readers a few facts about it. Then throughout the month, I tally the comments made on blog posts and we make a donation as a result of those comments. I used to do 50 cents per comment but now as I have not made an effort to drum up comments, Chris and I tend to just make a flat donation as a result of the comments. It’s all good — any donation is a good donation and if nothing else we are sharing new charities with my readers.

In April the cause I highlighted was The Children’s Center of Transylvania County.  It is another wonderful organization that does great work here in Transylvania County. For over 30 years, The Children’s Center has been dedicated to supporting and protecting children at risk of abuse and neglect.

This organization does a lot of great work in the county and Chris and I are happy to make a donation to help them continue their work.

Did you know that Teacher Appreciation week is May 4-8th? In honor of all teachers our charity for May is Transylvania County Schools Educational Foundation. A little bit about the foundation:

A community foundation built for local schools

For more than 25 years, TCSEF has worked alongside Transylvania County Schools to help ensure every student has the support they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

We exist to strengthen public education across Transylvania County by filling gaps that public funding can’t always cover—meeting immediate needs and investing in long-term student success.

“When our community comes together, students gain what they need today, and the confidence to pursue what’s possible tomorrow.”TCSEF Executive Director

From nutrition support to classroom resources and scholarships, our work is powered by donors, volunteers, and partners who believe in our schools.

What a great place to offer support in a variety of ways including classroom grants, a supply closet for teachers as well as providing needs based support.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
