Comments for a Cause Goes Pretty

9 Comments/ 1832/ 0

No fooling – it’s April 1st! I am not a big one for April Fool’s jokes and never have been so there won’t be any joking around here but if you know you know that the first of the month is kind of a big deal here on It’s Just Life. Comments for a Cause, which I have been doing since 2011, is always revealed at the beginning of the month so let’s get on with it.

.

March was a great month to highlight our cause – Transylvania County Library Foundation. We have the greatest library and even though I don’t use it as much as some people do, I do use it and love all of the services that it offers. There is always something going on and they are very good to offer things to our county that are really helpful and useful and entertaining. The Foundation is one way that donors can help support the efforts of the library and I am thrilled that there are opportunities to support them.

I am thrilled to report that thanks to all the comments on the blog this month Chris and I will be making a donation of $100 to the Transylvania County Library Foundation. Thank you to each and every one of you for your wonderful comments and for always stopping by and leaving a comment here or on Facebook or wherever you can. I really appreciate it.

.

One of the things that Chris and I have gotten into the habit of doing is watching the live broadcast of the Easter sunrise service from Pretty Place which is located at the YMCA Camp Greenville. It is just down the road from us across the state line and we visit it often. The year of the pandemic we started watching the broadcast and since it is such a popular event they have had to restrict the attendance to specially invited guests –camp staff, families and campers. We have never gone in person to the service but are thrilled that they continue to provide the livestream of the service. The above picture is a screenshot from the service on Sunday. Stunning, right?

I got to thinking while I watched that we have never really supported this place financially and it would be the perfect Comments for a Cause recipient. We love to go there and almost always take guests there if the timing works out. This place brings so much joy to us and to so many and it seemed like the perfects place to focus Comments for a Cause. During the camping season the YMCA camp is active and abuzz with campers and programs in a beautiful setting. The chapel is often a place for weddings and other events and is booked for events quite often.

A little bit about the chapel from their website:

Fred W. Symmes Chapel (also known as “Pretty Place” because of its amazing view) is one of the many buildings that make up YMCA Camp Greenville. It was given by Mr. Fred W. Symmes for the enjoyment of the boys and girls who camp here each summer and is the spiritual center of the camp.

The current chapel was constructed in 1941 with several additions and improvements made in subsequent years including major upgrades made in 2012 and 2018.

Recently there has been an upgrade to accommodate better parking, upgrade restrooms and upgrade handicapped parking as well. Our donation will assist in helping to maintain the facility and to keep a beautiful place just that – beautiful.

So please join me this month in supporting Pretty Place at the YMCA Camp Greenville camp. For every comment made on any blog post we will make a 50 cent donation to the cause. Thank you so much for your continued support. If you want to read more about this place please feel free to click on the link to go the the official website to learn more about the camp, the chapel and donate if you feel led. Thanks for always being so positive about my efforts to share great places and causes. I have the best readers. No joke.
