What I am reading.

Just started this one and it is one that I am having a difficult time putting down. Been on a bit of a reading jag lately during this cold snap and this one is pretty eye opening.

What I am listening to.

Chris and I are going to go see Hamilton again – this time in Greenville– and I am boning up on my singing. Smile. Seriously, if you haven’t seen or heard the music it is really beyond words. It is genius.

What I am cooking and eating.

Chris loves lentils and I make a Skinnytaste recipe of Coconut Curry Red Lentils but I only had green ones on hand so today’s soup was just a basic lentil soup with a beef broth base. It got rave reviews.

What I am praying.

We continue to struggle in Western North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Helene. A lot of people have moved on to the next crisis and no disrespect for any of those people suffering from wildfires or anything else but my focus still is on our neighbors here. We drove through Hendersonville the other day and discovered an area that is still littered with downed trees and roadblocks. It brought it all back home to me how this storm has very long lasting effects.

What I am wearing.

Sweatshirts, leggings, more sweatshirts and Smart Wool socks. It is cold here and I am not a fan of it as most of you know. I will get over it but brrrrrrr.

So tell me, what are your “current” things? I would love to hear about them so leave me a comment.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
