File this Under Things I Never Thought I Would Do

9 Comments/ 433/ 1

Sometimes life throws curve balls. Sometimes the path that appears in front of me is unexpected.

There have been quite a few things that I have done over the years that I never thought I would do.

Living in Australia has to top the list but honestly – what a great experience that was. A once in a lifetime opportunity to do something out of the ordinary and if you know me, you know I thrive on the extraordinary.

Today as I write this we are experiencing a Rainmageddon of sorts. Reports vary but suffice it to say we have gotten a lot of rain. Upwards of at least 5 inches in the past day. So far we have kept power and hopefully will continue to but honestly – with all of the rain, trees are going to be uprooting and coming down on lines all over the place. Already we have road closures and mudslides. So I am trying to come up with things to do that are productive and I just finished a task that falls into the “things I never thought I would do” category.

Those pills, my friends, are for our senior cat Holly who has recently been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and high blood pressure. The pills are to lower her blood pressure so she does not have seizures. Did I think I would be splitting blood pressure pills in half for my cat? No. But then I think back to how I nursed Buddy through his chylothorax episode and that was much more difficult so I guess it is just another one of those things that I do for a beloved pet. Sweet Holly will get her pills as long as I can do it. Because that’s what we do for those we love.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
