Fun Find in Lake Toxaway

6 Comments/ 581/ 1

Chris and I are always happy to find great places to visit and it is even better when we find new places to eat. A few weeks ago when I was on a mission for Sharing House we found a new to us place to eat in Lake Toxaway. I had heard folks talk about Grand Olde Station but had never visited so we were happy to be able to grab lunch there on this visit.

Located in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina, Grand Olde Station has been in existence since 2021 and the building itself is full of history that owner John Nichols has showcased and tried to preserve in his one of a kind restaurant. Combining good food with an atmosphere filled with history and artifacts from the past makes this place a great place to visit.

.

The building itself was the old depot so it has seen many uses over the years and the menu reflects the railroad theme as well as having decor that showcases a lot of those very same roots.

.

These guys overlooked our table which was a bit disconcerting but unique.

.

.

.

Pictures and memorabilia cover the walls and open spaces of the restaurant and our great waitress, Liz, told us a bit of the history of the place and encouraged us to look around. We were the only ones there for an early lunch and it was easy to take her up on her offer to look around.

.

.

Of course we had to have a picture with our new bear friend.

.

The outside boasts a huge area where an old train caboose resides along with a huge outdoor area where they are able to feature musical artists, food truck and more during the warmer months. I would love to go back and visit when it is in full swing during the summer months.

If you are ever in the area, take a trip to Lake Toxaway and check out the dining at Grand Olde Station –I bet you will love it as much as we did. For more information about dining, hours and other services please click here to go directly to their website.
