#GivingBack – It Starts With YOU!

13 Comments/ 552/ 0

What can make a difference in someone’s life? YOU can. My readers know that I am the Queen for supporting anything that reaches out and helps others. My friends and I just completed another successful Pack the Pavilion Food and Toy Drive for local charities and it feels good to give back. Really good.

I have been seeing a lot of great opportunities to give back and during the upcoming holiday season our minds naturally turn towards giving to others. The rest of this week will be devoted to sharing a few ways that I have found to give back to others in various ways. Please feel free to share and pass these ideas along to others who might be interested.

First up is a great little project that has been going on since 2003 through Home Instead, Inc. This great organization is one that helps keep people in their own homes while receiving a little bit of extra care that might be needed. I had not heard about their Be a Santa to a Senior project until one of my blogger friends, Andrea, who blogs at Good Girl Gone Redneck, shared on Facebook this great little project.

Home Instead tries to reach out to those in care facilities who might not have a Christmas without the help of others. They set up Christmas trees in locations where they provide services with ornaments with names and requests for gifts that folks can choose . But for those of us who don’t live in an area where they have a tree there is still a way to give. I got excited when I realized that I could gift a senior virtually.

The process is simple, Go to their website here.

Put in a zip code to search for seniors who have entered their information and choose from a simple list of inexpensive items from Amazon. Click on the ornament that you want to buy for and an Amazon list will pop up for you to choose from.

I chose Ruth who lives in a home in Ohio and was able to complete her inexpensive gift list and have it shipped with a personal note directly to her.

I love how easy this is and how I could do a small gift for someone safely without even having to leave the comfort of my couch. Win win win. Also if you use Amazon Smile and have a charity designated for your giving you are donating to that when you buy as well. The gift keeps on giving.

Thanks for joining me today for a #GivingBack highlight. Come back tomorrow for another idea on how to give back and make sure you leave me a comment. All comment this month mean a 50 cent donation to our Comments for a Cause – Emergency Covid-19 Combat Service.
