Hope

5 Comments/ 451/ 1

There’s a lot of great stuff going on all around Transylvania County and one of those organizations that is doing some amazing things is TC Strong. The organization has become a place of inspiration, acceptance and hope for our growing community. TC STRONG is a broad coalition of youth, school, and community leaders working together to ensure that every youth in Transylvania County feels confident and secure in connection, purpose, and hope. The group came into existence when there were suicides in our local schools. They have had many campaigns from positive signs being posted around town to a card writing effort that I highlighted here.

I saw that they had another great project going for May which is Mental Health Awareness month. Located in our downtown recently renovated Clemson Plaza the organization has created a HOPE tapestry wall. The idea is simple. Write a message of hope and weave it into the tapestry.

.

Supplies including fabric pieces, markers and more are located in this great rainproof container. Whoever designed this baby is a genius — it has buckles to keep the cover on safely and securely and in our environment that is key.

.

The challenge was to find a flat surface to write on — I managed to eek out a message but it could have been better. That’s okay — you can still read it I think.

.

Then it was time to weave it into the tapestry.

.

.

I absolutely love this project and the idea of turning Transylvania County green with the message of hope and love during this month of awareness. Is your town doing anything as spectacular as this? Tell me all about it in the comments and Comment for a Cause for PARI.
