How To Host a Wedding Welcome Dinner Abroad

28 Comments/ 495/ 1

It’s wedding recap week, isn’t it?  I promised I would share a bit about our son Micah and his beautiful bride Wendy’s wedding and this week I am trying to share a few pictures from that magical time.

Months before the wedding in Dubrovnik, Croatia Micah asked if we would be in charge of the decorations for the nautical themed Welcome Dinner to be held at an open air restaurant Poklisar in Old Town.  Of course I was happy to be involved and wanted to do the best job ever in helping to create the perfect atmosphere that they wanted.

But…

Seeing that Croatia involved traveling over 5100 miles it was going to be a bit of a challenge.

Thank goodness for Etsy.  I found the perfect vendors to create some amazing items to decorate the tables.  Shredlock provided me with some adorable origami boats and hearts created from atlas pages to decorate the tables.  High Plains Knotwork made the perfect commemorative knot complete with wedding date.  Along with sailor and captain hats the tables had a great nautical theme. I picked up a few cute sailboats at Hobby Lobby and some rope knots and we were all set.  The striped chairs at the restaurant were the perfect backdrop, don’t you think?

I packed the items in my carry on along with my wedding attire so they would arrive safely.  The night of the Welcome Dinner Chris and I walked into Old Town to the restaurant and the wedding planner took our decorations and decorated.  It was perfect.  She had the perfect touch and I didn’t have to do a thing.

It was a really special night and almost all of the wedding guests were there.  We feasted on wonderful food, drank delicious wine and enjoyed meeting up with family and friends in a most wonderful and beautiful place.

Memories that we will have forever in a most magical place.  All that stressing over making decisions about decorations was senseless because it was a beautiful venue and our little decorations were absolutely perfect.  Don’t you just love it when things work out so well?

Thanks for stopping by today and for sharing a bit of our wonderful wedding memories with me.  Please feel free to leave a comment and remember that all of the comments this month mean a 50 cent donation to our Comments for a Cause recipient The Bookworm Box.
