It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time – Part 2

13 Comments/ 456/ 0

Yesterday I regaled you with the tale of my ridiculous advent calendar adventure and today I share yet another thing that seemed like a good idea at the time.

Every year for years I have placed a basket of goodies out for our delivery folks. I started doing this probably five years ago when Iowa friend, Val Plagge, shared that they always did this during the holidays. It seems like a great idea and since we have so many deliveries here and so many different delivery services it meant all of them could have al little something.

So I fill a basket with goodies including chips, candy, sweets, crackers, protein bars, granola mixes, water and other things that delivery drivers can help themselves to . I usually put a cute little sign on the basket with a poem saying how much they are appreciated and please grab a snack or two to go.

Last year I added some $5 Starbucks gift cards and they were very popular. I love that we are able to do this every year and this year I was looking to add something to our stash. Kind of a shadowy picture but you get the idea of what our little basket of goodies looks like this year.

I decided on adding some fruit because it might balance out all of the other stuff that may not really appeal to someone. So I stuck some bananas, apples, pears and clementines in the basket in hopes that would help give someone a lift that wanted a healthier option.

Once again, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

.

Apparently “someone” else liked our basket of goodies and nibbled a pear. Imagine my surprise when I went to refill it!

Later that afternoon I heard Chris yelling at “someone” when he went out the front door and here was a squirrel. running away with a Kind bar in his mouth! I guess we know who nibbled the pear.

Once again….It seemed like a good idea at the time. Current situation below.

.

So far they haven’t figured out how to open the latches on the bin or chewed through them. I will keep you posted.

Old Girls in Low Cotton
