It’s All About the Goats at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site

38 Comments/ 579/ 0

For the love of goats.  I know my readers all needed a goat fix today because…GOATS.

There is nothing like a goat.  Last year I made my first visit to  Carl Sandburg National Historic Site.

I fell in love with the goats.  All the goats.  You can read about it here.

This past Friday Chris worked part of the day and then we headed over to Flat Rock to take a hike around the park and to see the goats.  I was hoping for some babies and since we were earlier than our visit last year I was not sure if there would be any but as luck would have it we saw two babies.

Mama Anya with twins born on St. Patrick’s Day – Ash and Alish.

Don’t worry about the spots on their heads.  None of the goats we saw had horns so I imagine they remove those when they are born and since Alish here is only a few week-old it is very noticeable.

There is just nothing that makes me smile bigger than goats.  Well, maybe alpacas.

Babs adopted Chris and wouldn’t let him leave without sidling up to him and head butting him gently till he paid attention to her.

How fun are these goats?  If you are ever in the area I would highly recommend that you make a visit.  Even if you don’t tour the house or hike the trails a visit to the Goat Barn is a must see.

Don’t forget to leave me a comment for Comments for a Cause – Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
