It’s All In the Name

14 Comments/ 723/ 0

Names are so important, don’t you think? But think about it – one of the most important things about each of us is chosen by someone else. Thankfully I like my name but there are many folks who don’t and have to find creative ways to get around the name that they were given at birth.

I have been thinking about names today in another context. Many times beach houses have names. The one we are staying in this week is named My Sunshine. I thought it was a pretty neat coincidence since I recently read Sean Dietrich’s book “You Are My Sunshine”. Chris and I went driving the other day and I jotted down a ton of beach house names as we passed miles and miles of houses with catchy titles. Here is a sampling. Let’s start with my favorite:

Keep it Shrimple

Aquaholic

Southern Cross

Victoria’s SEAcret

Beyond Breakers

Cuddle Fish

Beach Barracks

Coast is Clear

Sea and Believe

License to Chill

Sea Through

Promise Kept

BaBaBeach

Never Wanted Nothing More

Nirvana

My Hoppy Place (with frogs)

Holy Mackerel

Barnacle Bungalow

Final Stretch

Tar Heeling

All is Whale

Uncorked

Latitude Adjustment

Aren’t they fun? I can imagine the decor in many of them and know that it would be fun to see how they matched up with what I have imagined. Chris and I long ago decided on a name for our imaginary beach house — C’s to Sea.

Hope you have a fabulous day today and are able to enjoy the sunshine and crisp fall air. Don’t forget to leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for Operation KeepSafe. You can read more about it here.
