Just Another Day in Paradise!

I know, I know—I am stealing someone else’s line but that is how I feel. I love Lakeside, Ohio. I have so many fabulous memories of times here. I have been coming here since I was 2 months old every year. For those of you who do not know what Lakeside is exactly let me try to explain it to you! Lakeside is the site of the United Methodist Church’s West and East Ohio Annual Conferences. Growing up as a PK (preacher’s kid) had its moments and some of the best ones were times spent at Lakeside during the week of East Ohio Annual Conference. This place has become probably the most stable part of my ever changing life! And that is a good thing.

While Daddy attended Conference the rest of the family played miniature golf, went swimming at East Harbor, (when the water was in better shape), took long walks, went to the Marblehead Lighthouse, went to Cheese Haven, shopped downtown and bought candy by the bagful, played shuffleboard and just generally had a great time. I came to Lakeside up through my college years, I guess, and then took a few years off when Chris and I lived in Florida. Once we moved back to Ohio it became an annual tradition to bring the family for a week of family fun. Sometimes we were all here with our kids, sometimes only a few of us but we came as often as we could for as long as we could. It is a special place for us. I was a delegate a couple of times and now my sister is carrying on the tradition of the family as she is a United Methodist pastor.

This week I will take pictures, read a lot, take a lot of walks, enjoy family time and just basically chill out. I will share some pictures with you over the next few days and maybe you will fall in love with Lakeside like I have. It is not just a place—it is a feeling!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
