Good morning! Good afternoon! Good evening! Good whatever as you read this latest post. I took a bit of a holiday break to enjoy time with the family and especially with the grandson and am currently suffering from what my sister calls “Theo hangover”. It was a wonderful time and many memories were made but now it is time to get back to my “normal” life and get going. It is a little difficult, I will admit. There is much to do but it will get done, right?
The last two months I really focused my giving to go to the recovery efforts for Hurricane Helene. Comments for a Cause wasn’t as robust as some time ( I feel that my readership numbers is waning a bit and that is okay and understandable since I don’t do this for the numbers) but Chris and I made a nice contribution to Sharing House for their hurricane recovery programs that continues to help folks in our Transylvania County. There are still displaced families and the need is as big as it was immediately after the storm so the money is still definitely needed to help with those recovery efforts. So thank you for your comments and your support — our chosen charity for Christmas this year was Sharing House so our family donations for the year went there as well.

Our son, Micah, is quite invested in helping with helping those with lung cancer. His work at Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine involves an emphasis on lung cancer and he is quite passionate about sharing information that can help support those who are experiencing the disease. It is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the world. Awareness and early detection can be life-saving, yet lung cancer often goes undetected until its later stages due to a lack of symptoms in the early phases. His Christmas charity this year was the White Ribbon Project which has this as their mission:
The White Ribbon Project promotes awareness about lung cancer by changing public perception of the disease. Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer.
It’s a really good project and one that helps so many people. Their website is full of great information and the bottom line is that the mission is to reduce the stigma of lung cancer. So many narratives share the message that the person with lung cancer was responsible for getting the disease when the truth is lung cancer can affect anyone. The emphasis is on offering support, hope, compassion and optimism.
Please join me this month in supporting The White Ribbon Project as we raise awareness and support for lung cancer. For each comment made on any blog post during the month Chris and I will make a 50 cent donation to The White Ribbon Project. As always thank you for your support and HAPPY 2025!
