The Blue Ridge Parkway is such a fabulous place and we recently came back from a trek on some of the Parkway that we had not been on before. The foliage is on the way out but there were still a lot of patches where the colors were simply stunning. My thought is that any day on the Parkway is a good day.

.If you look closely at this picture below, you may see a trail that goes off into the woods. That, my friends, is the Appalachian Trail. If you know anything about this area you might know of the Appalachian Trail. It is 2,190+ miles of trail through the Appalachian Mountains.
Dreamed up in 1921, built by private citizens, and completed in 1937, today the trail is managed by the National Park Service, US Forest Service, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, numerous state agencies and thousands of volunteers. It is an amazing piece of history that continues to bless many. I know several people who have hiked some or all of the trail and it is not for the faint of heart. On this particular day I met a young man who was hiking to Harper’s Ferry. He was meeting up with his brother that day and had been on the trail for 2 weeks. His trail name is Snooze. You see all hikers on the AT choice hiking names. It was a thrill to meet him and to talk to him a bit on his journey.

Just look at those views. They are pretty amazing, aren’t they?
A man made waterfall but pretty nonetheless.

There is so much beauty around us if we can just take a moment to stop and appreciate it. Thanks for joining me today on my Blue Ridge Parkway tour.
