Music and Laughter

6 Comments/ 476/ 0

Saturday night was filled with music and laughter. I shared last week that Ann and I were headed to South Carolina for a girls weekend revolving around going to a Sean Dietrich show. Unlike our last trek to see him, this one seemed much more normal and we had a great time. Yay!

The show was held in a beautiful high school auditorium and was a fundraiser for Christmas In Action, a non-profit organization that rehabilitates the houses of elderly, disabled and otherwise disadvantaged homeowners to provide for their continued safety and independence. I love what they do and was happy that this show was helping to raise funds for a great charity. That’s kind of my thing as you know.

The show was fabulous and Sean sang and talked for close to two hours with no break. During the show he played the fiddle, banjo, guitar, piano and even the accordion so we got a lot of great music. He played a lot of great hymns and had a sing a long on “I’ll Fly Away”. I must say that he has become quite the entertainer and had the audience laughing along with him the entire night.

After the show we had to get hugs and autographs, of course. We waited in line for awhile and got to chat with his wife, Jamie, who keeps him on track and takes care of selling books before and after the shows.

.

And yes, that is my teapot purse.

Ann reads his books on her iPad so we figured out a way he could sign her “book”. He loved it and said it was the first iPad he had ever signed. Note the glasses.

Let me tell you – I needed a good dose of Sean and laughter and. inspiration and this was just the medicine I needed. If you ever get the chance to see him – take it. Chris and I are actually going to see him in June as he is going to be in North Carolina fairly close to us. Check out his website here.

Finally, check out his books on his website or get at your local bookstore. Of course they are also available online at various booksellers.
