She sells seashells by the seashore!

We had a great day today—the sun was out, there was a nice breeze and it reminded us of cooler days that we have had here in Australia! A break from the heat was a nice relief today!!! We spent the morning skyping family and then headed off for a few hours to see some things! We had wanted to see these waterfalls that are not too far from here that we had not seen yet but once we got there the road was water covered still from all the rains and if we had a 4 wheel drive we would have attempted it but all I could see were the headlines “American couple swept away in attempt to go see waterfalls” so I made Chris turn around!! I know, I know! I am not adventurous at times but there is a point where you also have to use common sense.

We did stop at the Frosty Mango which we had passed repeatedly and not stopped at and got a sandwich and a mango smoothie. I ordered a mango slushie but what we got was a smoothie. Once again they did not understand me! Oh well.

We stopped on the way back at a beach (Balgal) which is just a little north of Saunders Beach and we had never been there. They still have an Esplanade so the houses are not right on the beach but across the street and the beach, even tho it is not white sand, was really nice. They have a stinger net (Saunders does not) so there were a few people swimming. Chris lay down under a tree and took a nap and I walked a bit and took the pictures above. It is the first beach here that we have seen so much coral on and also sponges! That was pretty cool to see—-all i could think about was when we had gone to Tarpon Springs, Florida and gone to the Sponge Museum there. The big thing that stuck in my head that I quote every time I see a sea sponge was “sponge fisherman risk their lives for these sponges”. Well no sponge fisherman risked his life for these sponges that were just tossed up on the beach. Pretty cool!

We came home, took a nap and actually sat out on the veranda with a book and a glass of ice tea—no mozzies today and a nice breeze made it the perfect day!!! I gotta put this one in my memory bank!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
