The Blind Mule – Brevard, North Carolina

6 Comments/ 756/ 0

Chris and I are enjoying being able to eat out at some of the great restaurants we have missed during the past 18 months or so. While we are not eating out nearly as often as we did pre – Covid days, we are enjoying some really great meals here and there. A few weeks ago we finally made a visit to The Blind Mule which is located at 14 S. Gaston Street in Brevard, NC. While it has been open for a while it was our first visit and definitely will not be the last.

James Hargis, Proprietor & Chef, and his wife, Carole, originally started the restaurant in Lake Toxaway but have recently moved to their Brevard location. They have provided a great option even during the tough times of the pandemic and I am so happy that they are now one of our favorite places in town.

Specializing in small plates and tapas ( my favorite way to dine these days) I noted that the chef is a 2019 James Beard nominee and has an impressive background. The way to experience food from many regions and with different cuisines is always attractive to me and this meal did not disappoint.

Some of the delightful small plates we enjoyed. I can never get enough of a caprese salad and this one was fabulous.

And what is it about olives that appeal so much to me? I just recently roasted some of my own and am amazed at how easy and how tasty they turned out to be.

Chris especially loved the tuna plate.

Poutine, anyone? So delicious.

The portions were large and each plate was delicious. Our server was top notch and we were happy to get the chance to talk to owner, Carole, for awhile and get to know more about the business.

We decided to share a dessert and couldn’t finish it all because by then we were pretty full and content.

Reservations are required for this restaurant and they are currently open Wednesdays through Sunday from 5 – 9 pm. As with any restaurant these days it is good to check ahead of time and make sure of any changes to hours and days of service. Reservations can easily be made online and I love that option.

Chris and I both decided that this will be one of our new favorite places. For a look at their menu please click here . Take a look around their website and enjoy learning a bit more about one of our newer restaurants in Brevard. We are grateful for their attention to health and safety while providing a really wonderful dining experience.
