The Results Are In!!!

12 Comments/ 3365/ 0

This month I promised to make a donation to the National Parkinson Foundation for every legitimate comment made on my blog during the month of April.  By legitimate I mean from real people and not spammers!!! There are a lot of those out there in the blogosphere.  I blogged about it for the first time here.  Well, the results are in and after going through all of my comments for the month I had an all time high of 153 comments (not including my responses) .   I know that commenting on blogs is something that not everyone does but I really appreciate hearing what folks have to say about what I am blogging about!   Kind of gives me some positive reinforcement.  Yay!!!  So since the results are in and I pledged 50 cents per comment I will do just that—and more.  I got some birthday money this week so I will pad the $76.50 total a bit and round up to an even $100.  Not a bad start for my first attempt at Blogging for a Cause.  Thanks to all of you “commenters ” out there!!!

Since this was such a great thing to do and I am so excited about it I am going to continue on with the theme of comment contribution!   For the month of May I have chosen  UMCOR-–United Methodist Committee on Relief.  I am a lifelong United Methodist and no matter what your religious affiliation I think you will agree with me that UMCOR does fabulous work in the world.   They are one of the first ones to be present at disasters and one of the last organizations to leave.    The thing I like about UMCOR is that it is 100% efficient.  Every dollar given goes specifically to the project that you designate. Not every organization can claim that.

I am going to designate that my donation for May go to the Spring Storm 2011 fund.   The devastation and destruction of tornadoes, especially in the South, have been hard to imagine and loss of life and personal property is utmost on my mind on this Sunday morning.  Please join me this month of May and comment with abandon!!!  I want to surpass my comments from April and I know together we can make a difference.  I challenge each of you to make a donation in your own way to your own charity –whether it be the Red Cross , Samaritan’s Purse or any of the other charities that is addressing these horrific storms.  And as always, thank you for your support!!! Have a blessed Sunday!!!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
