The Troll Hunt Continues

Leave a Comment/ 10/ 0

After falling in love with Thomas Dambo’s work at the Arboretum (read about that here) I knew we had to visit his latest installation at Raleigh’s Dix Park during our trip to see Aaron and Erin.

Dambo’s mission is simple but powerful: create art that draws people into the Great Outdoors while showcasing the beauty of recycled materials. With a background in interactive design and street art, the Danish artist has mastered the craft of turning salvaged wood into massive, whimsical giants that now inhabit parks across the globe.

While a sudden thunderstorm forced us to make a run for it, seeing these trolls in person was well worth the trip. Dix Park is a beautiful “work in progress,” and these sculptures are the perfect reason to go exploring.

We didn’t make it to the last one because of the storm but I grabbed an image from the website of the last troll on permanent display in Dix Park. Meet Dux.

What a fun excursion. I am ready to find more trolls – what about you?
