Things I Learned on Vacation

14 Comments/ 447/ 1

I have been back from Nassau, Bahamas since very early Monday morning and am still catching up. I can’t keep track of what day it is, I have been over committed with obligations and meetings this week and I have had wardrobe malfunctions. I am hopeful that next week I will be able to share some pictures from our fabulous trip and regale you will tales of fabulous food, views and time with family but until I can regroup and get my act together, this little post will have to do.

So— things I learned on vacation.

Flamingos are amazing. The resort we stayed at, Baha Mar, had 26 flamingos. They had a little parade daily featuring three flamingos that was an enticement to buy a “flamingo experience” which we did not do. However, flamingos are pretty amazing and we all loved watching them. Theo is now lovingly nicknamed Flamingo Boy.

No matter what you wear there will always be someone dressed better or worse than you. After my recent wardrobe malfunctions I am just happy I made it through the trip relatively unscathed. But whoo boy –some of the fashions. Let’s just say not my cup of tea.

There are a lot of kids calling for Mom at the pools and on the beach but only one calling for Fama.

Tattoos are in full view at beaches and poolside and they range the gamut. I am amazed at the creativity.

I am a celebrity magnet. Not really. But we were told that Michael Jordan had stayed in the cabana we rented the two weeks prior. I kept saying – “do you think Michael sat here?” “Do you think he ate lunch here?” I might have been annoying.

My daughter in law Erin shared my new favorite phrase “sticky is icky” with me. It kind of captured the stickiness of a 3 year old grandson perfectly.

So there you go –some important things I learned or observed while on vacation. Have a great weekend and hope to see you back here next week.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
