There is a lot in this world that I do not understand.
I fully admit that.
We live in a beautiful place here in Connestee Falls complete with wildlife galore. It is a beautiful and wonderful thing. I try to be smart about living with nature but sometimes I have a lapse in judgment.
Usually it is when I am forgetful and forget to take the bird feeders in. We have resident raccoons and the occasional bear that wanders through and I have lost several bird feeders to those creatures. Probably the one that startled me the most was the bear that was helping himself to the remains of the birdseed on the bird feeder just 6-7 feet from my bedroom door on the back deck.
I learned my lesson as I looked out the screen door and locked eyes with said bear before he clamored over the side of the railing. No more feeders on the deck at night.
So one of the things that I do not understand is when people intentionally feed the bears and invite them to come join them in their living space. I have “heard” of folks that do that here and to me that is a stupid thing to do. Some of these bears are HUGE and to be trying to entice them to your yard with garbage cans full of food seems a bit irresponsible.
Another thing that makes me go “Hmmmm” is something called the Butter Diet. Yep. According to my AI friend the butter diet is a real thing. This is what AI had to say about the Butter Diet.
-
-
Satiety and Weight Loss:Some claim butter provides a feeling of fullness and aids weight loss due to its high-fat content. However, this is not universally supported by scientific evidence, and excess saturated fat can actually contribute to weight gain.
-
-
Gut Health:Butter contains butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that may have some benefits for gut health, including improvements in conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).However, these benefits are primarily observed in studies of butyrate alone, and eating large quantities of butter may not be a practical or beneficial approach for everyone.
-
Improved Mood and Energy:Some individuals claim butter consumption leads to improved mood and energy levels, but this is anecdotal and not supported by scientific research.
-
High Saturated Fat:Butter is high in saturated fat, which can contribute to heart disease and other health problems.
-
Nutrient Deficiencies:A butter-heavy diet can be deficient in essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which are crucial for overall health.
-
Heart Problems:The high saturated fat content can lead to increased cholesterol levels and a higher risk of heart disease.
-
Digestive Issues:While butyrate may have some benefits for gut health, consuming large amounts of butter can also trigger digestive issues in some individuals, particularly those with conditions like IBS.
-
Unhealthy Snacking:Snacking on sticks of butter can lead to overconsumption and a lack of healthy food choices.
-
Moderation is Key:.If butter is included in the diet, it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced and healthy eating plan.
-
Prioritize Healthy Fats:.Focus on incorporating healthy fats from sources like nuts, seeds, avocados, and olive oil, which are lower in saturated fat and higher in beneficial nutrients.
-
Consult a Healthcare Professional:.Individuals considering significant changes to their diet, especially those with underlying health conditions, should consult with a doctor or registered dietitian for personalized advice.
