Tiny Bits of Art

18 Comments/ 492/ 0

Our local library, the Transylvania County Library, has some really fabulous ideas and offers a multitude of things for people to participate in. Recently they have hosted outdoor concerts and they always have a great summer reading program for all ages. This is probably the best library I have ever had anyplace that we have lived and I barely use a fraction of what they offer.

When the notice came out that they were sponsoring an All Together and Tiny Art Show I had to jump on board. My friend Elaine, picked up a kit for me and even though it took me a while to get to it I finally completed it. The event is open to all ages.

Contained in the small brown paper lunch sack was a tiny canvas and some type of art supplies. Mine came with some art pencils, some had watercolor sets, some markers and other types of art materials. I ended up not using my pencils but liked what I came up with.

The idea was just to create something– it could be about community, kindness or friendship or anything at all and the idea was to create however you wanted to create. After the tiny pieces of art are returned to the library, they will be on display from July 1-22. On July 28th they will be on display at Transylvania Community Arts Council for the 4th Friday Gallery Walk. What fun!

I titled mine Goals.

I can’t wait to see what all of the other entries are like. I used scrapbook paper and embellishments and Mod Podge to create mine and am pretty happy with the results. It is a good reminder of what matters most to me.

Have you ever done a tiny art project like this? I would love to hear all about it so remember to Comment for a Cause for National Parks and Recreation Association.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
