Unexpected Vacation Finds

6 Comments/ 485/ 0

Last week when we were in Nassau, Bahamas at the Baha Mar Resort, I was surprised to find out that there were a lot of great animals and “experiences” for both kids and adults alike. While we did not shell out the extra dollars to do any of the extra things, we were able to see some of the animals that they had on the grounds for guests to enjoy.

First up, the flamingos that I already referred to. They had a little fenced in area where they hung out and then of course there was the high stepping flamingo parade daily at 9:30 am where you followed the flamingos to a little field where the handlers did a Q and A session. It was cute and fun but a little bit anticlimactic when I expected 26 parading flamingos.

.

.

There was also an aviary and a separate place with macaws that I forgot to go back and photograph. The aviary was crazy with birds swooping all over the place and it was hard to photograph but a fun experience.

.

A coi pond was a favorite place to stop by on our way to the pools and beach.

.

Another fun area housed tortoises. They don’t move around a lot but we were able to watch them sun themselves and eat and they are just so cool looking.

.

This little guy came to visit one day as I was lounging poolside. There was even an underwater aquarium that housed all kinds of neat fish and sharks that you could view from one of the. pools. That was a favorite for Theo and he made lots of trips to that part to see all that was swimming around behind the glass.

.

The resort has so much going on while we were there but one of my favorite things was watching the fountains out our window at night for a spectacular light and water display.

.

.

A really beautiful place and a wonderful family trip. Thanks for sharing it with me.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
