What Do You Want to Do Today?

11 Comments/ 507/ 0

Chris asked me that on Saturday. He asks me that a lot of days but particularly on Saturday I think he was feeling the need to get out of the house and go somewhere. That’s what being semi retired (him) is all about. Being able to take a day and just go someplace for the fun of it.

So we did. We headed to Waynesville, North Carolina. Years ago when he did framing (pictures), he had a lot of customers in Waynesville and it was always one of his favorite towns to visit. It ‘s downtown is larger than Brevard but it has the same cute feel to it. It was the perfect day to drive through Pisgah National Forest on the way to an adventure. It is a great town and I found some great things including TWO bookstores! You know I was happy, right?

Waynesville has a lot of outdoor art and fun murals. I always love that.

.

There were a ton of really great shops to pop into and while I didn’t take pictures of them, I did store the names away in my brain for future visits. I seemed to be drawn to cutesy sayings on towels and pillows on this trip.

Of course we had to have lunch to fuel our shopping and stopped at Birchwood Hall for a bite. We both got the catfish roll – their take on the Maine lobster roll and it was pretty darn yummy.

.

Have you made any fun and spontaneous trips recently? Sometimes it is just good to get out of town to a new place to walk around and enjoy a different set of scenery. Hope your Wednesday is a good one!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
