See that stack of cookbooks in the header? One of my favorite things to do is to try new recipes and this stack of Skinnytaste cookbooks is tagged with many, many flags of recipes to try. It’s always been fun for me to look at recipe books and honestly, even with the internet, I still go back time and time again to physical ones.
I think it is interesting how some people love to cook and others just can’t be bothered. I love the whole process of creating –from selecting the recipe to buying the ingredients to preparing the dish. I must say that Chris has always been very supportive and appreciative of my cooking even when it does not deserve it. He has always thanked me for cooking and is often heard saying “oh this is just what I was hungry for”. What a good husband.
So what’s up on the menu in the coming weeks? Here’s a sampling.
Of course I may deviate from my lists but it is good to have some idea of what I am going to be cooking every week. When the boys were little we did a lot of casseroles. They were easy and usually inexpensive to put together and they still occasionally tease me about casseroles even though Aaron routinely requests Grandma Kate’s Casserole when I ask him what I can bring when we visit. So I guess they weren’t all that bad. Micah commented not too long ago about “slimy mushrooms” that I put in casseroles also known as canned mushrooms. To say that my boys have more refined palates now is an understatement. They are both really great cooks so I am glad that they overcame their childhood diet of casseroles.
So what about you? Do you plan out menus? Do you have tried and true menus that you just rotate every week? Do you love the cooking process? Do you love the preparation? The chopping and dicing and slicing of ingredients? I really want to know how others view cooking so let me know in the comments and leave a comment for our Comments for a Cause — The White Ribbon Project.
