When it Rains Inside

10 Comments/ 540/ 0

Chris and I just got back from a long weekend in Texas. We had big plans. We managed to do just about everything we set out to do despite stupid sinus infections and not feeling 100% after we arrived. Isn’t that the way it goes sometimes? You look forward to a huge event or even a small event and bam! Something happens and you feel less than wonderful but we soldiered through, masked up, and did what we set out to do.

We stayed at a couple of Aloft hotels during our trip and have had good experiences with them. Chris is super titanium platinum gold silver extraordinaire or something with Marriott so that is usually our chain of choice when traveling. This time we chose Aloft as they were close to where we wanted to be and it would be easy to walk and access where we needed to go.

Thursday night we checked in and got settled. We decided to scrap our walking around plans as the weather was going to turn dicey complete with tornado warnings and pouring rain and it was a good decision. The rain started and it was phenomenal from the looks of it. Nothing like a good Texas thunderstorm, right?

Then this happened.

I had gone to put the blind down and was completely oblivious to this until I walked to the desk area and thought the carpet was a little squishy…

A quick call to the desk and we got a new room but of course I had “settled in” already ( I might have even been in my jammies) so there was a bit of packing up to do before it was go time. Chris was so calm when he called and said “there is a lot of water coming in the window so we need a new room”. Honestly, I don’t know how they could fix it at that point at night other than put towels there to soak it all up. Who knows?

Fortunately that was the worst of our room experiences. Except for the time we got booked into a conference room instead of a real room….

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
