34 Years Later He Still Makes Me Laugh

30 Comments/ 3835/ 1

Today Chris aka Mr. Diamond and I celebrate 34 years of marriage.  Who knew when those two 22 year olds got married the summer after college graduation that their lives would go on so many journeys?  Who knew?  Definitely not me.

One of the things that I think is so important in a marriage is the ability to have fun together.  Chris and I always have fun.  As the years have gone by I think we have grown to appreciate each other’s senses of humor and we often do those “couple” things that help keep the marriage fun.

Examples?

I like to jump out and scare Chris at random times.  He is VERY jumpy and it makes me laugh hysterically when it works.  He warns me these days that as he is getting older that may not be a good idea to continue.

When we lived in Australia geckos in the house were normal.  We had tons.  So somewhere along the way I bought some plastic geckos and they got hidden and discovered here and there over the years.  Now there is one that rides in Chris’s car every where he goes.  Silly but a fun reminder of other times.

Of course everyone has pet names or phrases that they share, right?  One of ours is “lovest”.  Another one is “mostest” as in I love you the mostest.

Not too long ago we bought one of those Casper mattresses for the guest bed in the apartment over the garage. The mattress that was there had served its time and was probably long overdue for being replaced.  We did our research and decided that one of those cool Casper mattresses that comes in a box would be a great way to go. We read the reviews and decided that this was the one that would give our guests the most comfortable night of sleep.  So we bought it and waited.

The mattress arrived when we were gone (imagine that) and somehow the girl that takes care of our cats wrestled it into the entryway.  I am not sure how she managed moving the 63 pound box but she did .mattress1The whole concept is pretty cool as the mattress is kind of vacuum packed in the box and then wrapped in Tyvek so that it stays folded up. mattress4 We did read the directions, fortunately, and had the presence of mind to put it on the bed where it needed to be.  The rest is history.mattress 6I think if you watch the video you will see that Chris and I still have fun together after 34  years and make a pretty good team. Enjoy.

Oh and Happy Anniversary to my sweet hubby.  Here’s to 34 more.
