A Cat Must Live Here

15 Comments/ 496/ 2

Are you tired of my incessant cat posts? If you are – move on along. Nothing to see here.

Honestly – Maksim is a character and even though he and Holly have their moments of fighting I know deep down she loves him. Just not when he is trying to play with her tail.

I think cats just make the world better. A friend shared on Facebook that the National Trust – Europe’s largest conservation charity- had announced the arrival of a new cat to Chartwell which was home to Winston Churchill for 40 years. According to their website :

Since the National Trust opened the house to the public in 1966, the family of Sir Winston Churchill requested that there always be a marmalade cat named Jock, with a white bib and four white socks, in comfortable residence at Chartwell.

Now you know want to see Jock VII, don’ t you? Click here to go directly to a picture of the stunning feline and come right on back to finish reading.

A collection of Maksim’s favorites.

We seem to have a problem keeping track of Maksim’s favorite toys. There is bee, tail mouse, feather mouse, buffalo mouse, sardine, crinkly ball, not too crinkly ball and the list goes on. He was peering under Chris’ dresser the other day and I got a little flashlight and found that there were 4 of his favorites under there. It’s difficult to get to them so I asked Chris to help out and fashion me a toy retriever.

When we lived in Australia and frogs frequented our toilets he created a “frog checker” for me out of a wire coat hanger. I had to run the hook part under the rim of the toilet and if a frog was hidden up there (it’s hard to explain but they flattened themselves out and hid there) it would squeal when the hanger touched them and hopefully hop down and back up inside the toilet. Oh I grew up a lot when we lived in Australia. Trust me. So I knew Chris had the capability to make a toy retriever in the same manner.

We named them Carla and Christopher.
Of course there were others but I was not quick enough to capture a snap of them.

Walaa! A highly sought after toy retriever that works like a charm. No more lost toys under dressers and beds where human hands or kitty paws can’t reach. We have a happy household again.

It’s those little things that we do for one another that make life better, don’ you agree? And even though my house looks like a crazy cat lady house at some points of the day I don’t care one bit. I can clean it up any time I want to but until then I will leave the toy piles and paper piles for the entertainment of my cats and myself. Enjoy.
