A Day in the Life of a Kitten

22 Comments/ 442/ 4

You knew it was coming, right? Kitten time happened this weekend. The family gifted me a kitten way back in April for my birthday but we had decided that it would be best to wait until after Aaron and Erin’s wedding to actually get one. Plus I was still not ready after losing Buddy in January. This was the weekend that “my” kitten was ready to come home. He was born August 17th which is a special day in my family with 3 marriages taking place over the years on that day so it was meant to be.

We headed to Cummings, Georgia to pick up our little bundle of fluff. Pick up was not without a bit of drama but we worked it out and officially picked up this little nugget at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday.

(Maksim is Russian for Great)
Ready for the 3 hour drive home.
That lasted about 5 minutes.
Coffee stop! Snuggle time!
Settling in.
A little scared after coming out of his carrier.
Just look at that face!
Hmmm—you drank all the tea? Save some for me next time.
I am stealing your heart….
Good morning! I made it through the night in my safe environment (upstairs bathroom) and was allowed to come in for morning playtime in bed.
Morning play time wore me out.
My new mommy put me to bed and I am happily snoozing for a bit.

I am smitten. He is going to be so much fun. Holly met him in his carrier a few times already and sniffed, was not impressed, might have hissed a little bit and is feeling a bit out of whack. We will introduce very slowly and safely and we are hopeful that all will settle down eventually. I am confident all will be well in a while. Thank you for indulging me – there might be more pictures coming…. You can follow Maksim on Instagram by clicking here.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
