A Weekend of Books!

Leave a Comment/ 1676/ 0

I have had so much fun this weekend and part of it was because I read FOUR, count em, FOUR books!!!   The weather was so perfect for sitting on the deck with a glass of iced tea reading up a storm so I did just that.  Out of the four that I read I would have to say that Motor Mouth by Janet Evanovich was my favorite.  I just love her books and have read all in her Stephanie Plum series so I settled in on some of her other ones.  This one did not disappoint and to my surprise it centered around NASCAR!!!   So many references were made in the book to places in Mooresville and Lake Norman and it was pretty neat to think that I knew what she was actually talking about.  A very quick read and one that I would recommend!

Next in line would have to be Think Twice by Lisa Scottoline.  I have read a couple of her offerings before and this one had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure it out.   The story line centers around twins and it is a real page turner trying to figure out who is who when!  I was enthralled, let me tell you!  I would recommend this one too!

Third on the list was a book by Peter Hedges An Ocean in Iowa. I figured with Iowa in the title I might learn something.  And I did.  The book is about a family with the last name of Ocean and chronicles their lives focusing primarily on young Scotty and his relationship with his mom, Joan.  I won’t ruin it for you but it was an interesting read by the author of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. The book stated that the state flower is goldenrod…..isn’t that a weed???  I Wikipedia’ed it and it said it was the Wild Rose so I am not sure if Mr. Hedges was making a statement or what…..

The final book I just finished was Worst Case by James Patterson with Michael Ledwidge.   A fast read but a tad disappointing and judging from the number of books listed in the back of this novel written and co-written with others I think Mr. Patterson may be trying just a tad too hard to crank them out.  It had some substance and was a really quick easy read but lacked some of the meat that his Alex Cross series has.  i guess that is what happens when you become famous and it is expected that you write a certain number of novels in a year or something.

So now it is back to the library I go to pick up some more before my mega trip coming up next week to Arizona and then to Ohio!  Can’t wait but I have a few days before I leave so might as well put them to good use, right????   Read on!
