All Quiet on the Western North Carolina Front

23 Comments/ 4289/ 3

The house is quiet.

Except for the soft purring of Buddy and Holly and the birds chirping outside all is still.

Aaron and Erin have come and gone.

Chris is back on the road.

And I am left alone in the house to continue to settle in and unpack.

What an amazing weekend we had and I am so grateful to Aaron and Erin for coming to help us get stuff organized.  The main project was to pull everything out of the garage and sort and re-stack according to contents and accessibility need.  It was a huge job and went very successfully.  Team Chiles rocks. Oh and they brought Buddy and Holly back to us.  catsWe definitely took time out this weekend for fun.  It was much needed.  As we always do in a move we hit it really hard for the first week. The house is really pretty well settled as far as the major things and even though we probably really have too much furniture still it is going to be what we live with for awhile at least.

So what did we do for fun?  The “kids” went kayaking and Chris even took a spin with Aaron.

7We ate a yummy meal both at the house and one of our new favorite restaurants in Brevard, Square Root.  We have eaten there 3 times already and it was fabulous all three times.

We were going to hike to one of the waterfalls in Connestee Falls but it was raining when we planned to go so we just went to the easily accessible viewing platform instead.

We made S’mores.  9We sat outside.  We watched the deer and squirrels. We talked and laughed and had fun being together.  Family time is wonderful.  I am blessed.  Thanks for all the well wishes.  It makes me so happy to know that my readers are excited about our move as well.  And yes, all but one of my teapots made it through the move safe and sound.  I would say that is a pretty good outcome.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
