Ambling to Ayr!

Leave a Comment/ 926/ 0

Check out the dashboard of my latest rental vehicle…….think it gets hot here???

A typical Aussie brekkie—-tomato, bacon, mushrooms, eggs and spinach on flatbread with bbq sauce….Pretty darn yummy!!!

We came to Ayr today after lunch and will spend today and tomorrow here so Chris can go to the mills down here. I love coming down here–it is just a nice change and we always have a nice quiet time while we are here.
The day is pretty hot—but it rained a bit and that helped cool it off a bit. Don’t know if you can tell from the one picture how hot it gets here……we got a new rental car today–some big ole diesel 4 wheel drive thing that is the worst vehicle we have ever rented in our entire lives!!! It is filthy and if you can tell from the picture the dashboard is all blistered up from the heat. Crazy! I can’t believe they rent this one out but I guess maybe it is the one reserved for Americans who they think can’t drive???? LOL I don’t know—I just know it feels like I am driving a truck! We hope to go some places in this that we could not go in the Camry…we shall see and I will keep you posted on the adventures!!

One adventure coming up is on Friday when some of my friends take me to the Heritage Tea Room at the top of Hervey’s Range. It is the oldest known building in North Queensland and full of history. My friend Gillian is organizing this outing and I am so happy to be able to be a part of this latest trip! If it is anything like our trip to Charters Towers I am sure it is going to be fun!!!

We have lots coming up to do and see –a trip to Mackay, a trip to Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef and you can bet I will be telling you all about it!!! Stay tuned!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
