It’s been a great couple of weeks and Chris and I just got back from a road trip to Ohio – land of buckeyes and gray skies. The original reason for the trip was to celebrate some milestones in the lives of my sister and brother in law. 2024 is the year that they celebrate 50 years of marriage (August), 70 years of life (Paula – April) and 80 years of life (Carl – May). Their children arranged a big celebration of 50-70-80 while their son and his wife were going to be in the state and we made it a priority to make the trip.

I got to spend time with my great niece which is always great.
.
No pictures of me with my sister for some unknown reason but I managed a selfie with my brother Chris.
.
Then it was off to celebrate a birthday with the Chris’ side of the family with a lunch gathering in Columbus to celebrate the birthday of our niece’s boyfriend. We loved seeing Chris’ sister and brother in law and our niece and her beau. Never can have too much family time. (Check out those desserts..there was a story there but that’s for another time.)
.
Finally it was time to head to Ashland to attend an eclipse party with my brother and sister in law and some of their friends. It was fabulous –from the food to the company to the amazing total eclipse. I can’t put into words how amazing it was to see it. We missed the one that was in Brevard in 2017 because we were in Croatia for Micah and Wendy’s wedding so we knew we had to stay long enough in Ohio to view this one.

I did not have a filter for my phone so of course any shots I would take were not going to turn out but I snuck one quick one.
.
It was weird looking during the eclipse – not total darkness but dark enough that solar lights came on as you can see spots of light in the trees.
.
You have probably seen tons of really great eclipse pictures so I won’t repost those from NASA and other sources here but I will share one my nephew shared with me that one of his friends took where they were all viewing it together in Bowling Green. Pretty amazing, right? Obviously he had the right camera and filters.
.
Were you able to view the eclipse? I would love to hear your thoughts about it. I thought it was amazing.
What about those eclipse glasses? If you want to donate them there are several ways to that you can do that. You can donate them through Astronomers Without Borders by clicking here for more information.
