Comments for a Cause – For the Lives of Millions

16 Comments/ 1770/ 0

Happy July to each one of my readers. It has been warm and a little stormy here in North Carolina but it means that I don’t have to water my plants nearly as much so that makes me happy. As I always do around the first of the month, it is time to reveal our results for our past month for Comments for a Cause. If you are new here, it is a simple thing. For each comment on any blog post during the month, Chris and I make a 50 cent donation to the charity that is highlighted for that month. Most months I simply round up to a nice even number to make it all nice and neat but without your comments this would just not work.

This past month I selected Vestibular Disorders Association in honor of my friend Audrey who blogs at Minnesota Prairie Roots. She has been dealing with a myriad of symptoms for months now and this organization provides a lot of great support and information for those who are dealing with the effects of these types of disorders. To read more about it please click here to go to that initial blog post.

This past month, due to your comments, Chris and I will be making a nice donation of $100 to Vestibular Disorders Association in honor of Audrey. I am thrilled to be a very small part of helping to provide support to others who are suffering like she is from debilitating symptoms. Thank you to all for your willingness to stop by and comment.

July is Parks and Recreation month and to honor all that the is good about parks and recreation I decided to highlight the National Park and Recreation Association (NPRA). The organization operates on three pillars:

Health and Wellness

Equity

Conservation

According to their website, NPRA states:

On any given day, someone is positively affected through parks and recreation – whether they are taking a walk on a trail or fitness class at the community center, getting a nutritious meal or just reaping the benefits of clean air and water because of preserved open space.

It’s true, right? We are all impacted by clean water, air and open spaces and what better way than to support an organization that does much to promote healthy living. I loved this quote from the 2022 Annual Report:

Parks and recreation has the power and potential to tackle the impacts of climate change, reverse childhood obesity, combat loneliness and isolation, and create stronger and more equitable communities where all experience the benefits of parks and recreation. Park and recreation professionals provide places to heal, programs to nourish and opportunities to mentor. This year’s annual report reinforces what we hold with the deepest conviction — parks and recreation can help solve our biggest problems. NRPA stands ready, with the support of our partners and funders, to rise up to the challenge.

Join me this month in supporting National Parks and Recreation Association and don’t forget to step outside and enjoy all that the wonderful outdoors has to offer. Leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause often this month. Let’s take care of Planet Earth. Please feel free to connect with NPRA on all of their social media outlets listed below. Have a happy and safe 4th of July.
